1 out of 5 Michigan jobs in 2000 is gone today.

Join the fight against Lansing’s special interests here!
Rick released the following letter this afternoon:
Good afternoon,
On Friday, the Reinvent Michigan Team launched a special fundraising drive to raise $20,000 in 20 days to prove that we are ready to stand up to special interests and take back Lansing to create a better Michigan. I’m thrilled to announce that through your help, we flew past our goal by raising nearly $21,000 in just 4 days from individual contributions. Now is NOT the time for us to slow down. Help us double our goal and raise another $20,000 before the end of the year.
As the only candidate in the race who rejected funds from special interests and lobbyists, I am foregoing hundreds of thousands of dollars in order to maintain my independence from special interests. Each special interest group can funnel up to $34,000 to their favorite career politician in this race through contributions from Political Action Committees (PACs). That’s ten times the amount that I can accept from individual citizens like you.
The broken political system in Lansing is a result of the excessive special interest influence on career politicians and decision makers. We can’t afford to continue down that path. That’s why I’ve turned my back on special interests and I am proposing reforms like “Value For Money” budgeting to empower the citizens to craft state government’s priorities. When I take office, I’m going to stand up for citizens like you and work hard to make sure that narrow interests don’t get in the way of long-term solutions.
So please continue to stand up to special interests by helping me raise another $20,000 before the end of the year. Please consider contributing $10, $50, $100 or more so we can reach our new goal. Spread the word to your friends and help us promote this special fundraising drive on Facebook and Twitter.
Our collective effort sends a strong signal that the citizens of Michigan are fed up with Lansing’s career politicians. If you want to do even more than just contribute, please take a look at our “Run with Rick” program and join me in providing the new leadership that Michigan needs to begin the era of innovation.
